Honeymoon Cruises

After all of the stress of planning a wedding, many couples opt for a relaxing cruise honeymoon on the high seas to regenerate and spend quality time together. It's easy to understand why. Cruise tickets include accommodations, meals, entertainment, and activities. There is also so much to see and do right at your fingertips! Couples can participate in the Newlyweds' Game, enjoy a romantic breakfast on their private balcony, relax in the hot tub under a starry night sky, or sit hand-in-hand watching a Broadway-style play. Not to mention all the exciting sites you'll visit in port. The two choices you need to make are where to go and which ship you want to take you there.

Choosing the Destination

Popular cruise honeymoon destinations include the Caribbean, Europe, Tahiti, and Mexico.

On top of the beautiful beaches, tropical climate, and interesting sight-seeing, the Caribbean offers a plethora of duty-free shopping where you can find tons of trinkets to decorate your home. Every cruise line has at least one ship in the Caribbean (many year-round), so you won't have trouble planning your dream escape.

European cruises generally take place in the summer and itineraries include the Greek Isles, the Mediterranean Sea, the Baltic Sea, and the British Isles. There are hundreds of ports to choose from and tons of ships to take you there. So, decide on the countries you would most like to visit, then find a cruise ship that encompasses those ports.

The warm islands of Tahiti offer sun-drenched beaches, warm water, tropical sunshine, and landscape unlike any other place on earth. Some cruises depart directly from the islands, others drop anchor there as part of an Asian, Australian, or Hawaiian cruise. Both Princess Cruises and Windstar Cruises have a ship stationed in Tahiti year-round.

Mexico beckons sun-worshippers and history buffs alike with amazing beaches, ancient ruins, and sunny weather. You can cruise the Mexican Riviera for a chance to visit Aculpoco, Puerto Vallarta, and Mazatlan. Cruise the Caribbean side and see the ruins outside Cozumel and lie on the beaches of Cancun. Or visit both places with a cruise through the Panama Canal. Cruise lines generally include the Caribbean side of Mexico as part of a Western Caribbean cruise. Those that visit the Mexican Riviera do so generally in the fall and winter, but Carnival Cruise Lines and Royal Caribbean International have ships stationed there year-round.

Choosing the Cruise Line

Cruise lines have responded to the influx of honeymoon cruisers by adding special amenities both in the cabin and on the ship to spoil newlyweds. It is best to discuss with your Cruise Consultant the line that suits your needs. Every line has a honeymoon package available for purchase. These vary from ship to ship and line to line, but generally include a photo, champagne, and a cocktail reception. Below is a list of the most popular amenities offered by cruise lines.

Sunday/Monday Departures

For couples who get married on the weekend, the following cruise lines offer Sunday and Monday cruise departures: Carnival Cruise Lines, Celebrity Cruises, Holland America Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, Orient Line, Princess Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Royal Caribbean International, and Windstar Cruises.

Table for Two

Couples wishing to dine alone on their honeymoon cruise can do so at a table for two on Carnival Cruise Lines, Celebrity Cruises, Crystal Cruises, Cunard Line, Disney Cruises, Holland America Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, Orient Lines, Princess Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Seabourn Cruises, and Windstar Cruises.
