Ready, Set, Sail!
Change the way you see the world. Nothing compares to an Antarctica expedition. For many, exploring this continent is a once-in-a-lifetime dream. To cross the Drake Passage and explore a place where wildlife reigns supreme is truly life-changing. That's why you'll want to do it with the experts. HX has been exploring Antarctica for over 20 years, and they do so in sustainable style, with a world-leading science program that helps the fragile ecosystems they explore.
Meet the Locals
The seas and shores around Antarctica teem with wildlife. See colonies of penguins, pods of whales, and curious seals. On an HX Antarctica expedition, you'll marvel at pristine panoramas of snowy mountains, wind-sculpted icebergs, and mighty glaciers with the experts in Antarctic travel.
The krill-rich waters support abundant wildlife, from humpback whales and fur seals to albatrosses and penguins. An estimated 12 million penguins of varying species call the Antarctic Peninsula home.
Explore Antarctica
An all-inclusive cruise to Antarctica with HX means entering explorer mode. You’ll join our experienced Expedition Team in small launches as HX go on shore and seek out wildlife.
Other activities include kayaking, snowshoeing, camping, and perhaps even a polar plunge for a real thrill!
HX goes beyond Antarctica, with South Georgia, the Falkland Islands, Patagonia, and more included on many of our voyages.
Enrich Your Mind
Your expert Expedition Team will deliver lectures on a range of topics, such as Antarctica’s geology, marine biology, history, and ornithology. These lectures and talks will be held in the ship’s industry-leading onboard Science Center, out on deck, ashore during landings, or when cruising in small boats (RIBs).
The ships' Science Center is a treasure trove of information on Antarctica and other destinations. Use advanced microscopes to analyze rock, soil, and water samples taken from the field, which are usually full of microscopic life for you to discover.
You can also choose to get involved in a variety of Citizen Science projects that document wildlife or other aspects of the environment. Some projects use photos you’ve taken to add to scientific research around the world. Engage with the natural world and contribute to important scientific research!
Mindful Adventures for Curious Travelers
Since 1896, HX has taken curious travelers to the planet’s furthest flung places on comfortable, classy journeys that focus on learning, science, and conservation. Immerse yourself in places that lure the curious traveler. Whether it’s spotting polar bears in the Arctic, watching marine iguanas bask on the Galápagos Islands, or getting up close to Antarctica's penguins in our stylish expedition ships, an HX expedition brings you closer to a world of wonder.
With onboard lectures and science centers, your Expedition Team will illuminate your mind with talks about history, culture, science, and art, ensuring you return home with a deep understanding and love of the places you explore.

This is the most diverse fleet of ships in the industry, each with its unique features and capabilities. The fleet at present includes: the technologically-advanced Ultramarine, which has two twin-engine helicopters, 20 quick-deploy Zodiacs, and superb onboard amenities, including a spa, and sauna with floor-to-ceiling rooms; the all-balcony suites World Explorer, much loved for its luxurious cabins and excellent spa services; and our oldest and smallest ship (carrying 128 guests), Ocean Adventurer, much-loved by guests and staff alike for its traditional marine decor and intimate ambiance.
Biggest Portfolio of Off-ship Adventures
Quark Expeditions offers the biggest portfolio of off-ship adventures in the industry, including kayaking, hiking, bird-watching, photography excursions, stand-up paddle boarding, and the famous Polar Plunge. Customize your Expedition
Quark Expeditions’ guests are encouraged to choose how, where, when and what to do during their polar expeditions. You have the ability to choose: which ship (with guest capacities ranging from 128 to 199 passengers); which specific Antarctic destination; which part of the season you want to travel (early, mid- or late-season); and, most of all, what you wish to do during your expedition of a lifetime. Do you want to be physically active (and choose alpine trekking or SUP boarding), or do you want to peacefully immerse yourself in your polar surroundings and choose guided photography walks suited to your particular tastes. You also get to choose a polar milestone you’d like to cross off your bucket list, whether it’s setting foot on the 7th Continent for the first time or crossing the Antarctic Circle. Ultimately, it’s all your choice!
Superb on-board amenities:
Guests can enjoy beautiful cabins, spa treatments, saunas, delicious cuisine, FREE alcohol and Wi-Fi.* Amenities, of course, vary from ship to ship. For instance, guests love World Explorer because every cabin has its own balcony, and there’s an on-board spa to rejuvenate after a day exploring off-ship. In the case of a ship like Ultramarine, you can enjoy Tundra Spa with its organic products, and the sauna with floor-to-ceiling windows that enables guests to view icebergs and glaciers outside while they relax in comfort. Plus, each ship has various options of lounges, bars and restaurants. All cabins across the fleet deliver high on comfort—with many designed with heated washroom floors.
As your local travel experts, we can help you plan the polar expedition of a lifetime in Antarctica 2024/2025. We’ll help you choose from Quark Expeditions’ portfolio of voyages to the Antarctic Peninsula, South Georgia Island, the Falklands, Snow Hill and Chilean Patagonia.
