This quote by Robyn Yong never truly connected with me until I stepped off the beautiful Star Princess cruise ship and on to the shores of Hawaii. I never used to travel and always thought what is the point? I can do everything that I would do on vacation right where I was living.

All of this changed the moment that my now wife and I decided to book our honeymoon on a 15-day cruise onboard the Star Princess from Vancouver to Hawaii; my life changed forever and led me to pursue a career as an Expedia Travel Consultant. We went canoeing through the mountains, swimming under waterfalls, four-wheeling through lava tubes, visited an active volcano and watched smoke rise from the awe and power of nature, swam on the majestic shores of Maui, trekked in the footsteps of Hollywood giants as we visited the filming sites of productions such as Jurassic park, Fifty First Dates and the show Lost, visited the biggest open air mall in the world - the Ala Moana Shopping Center, overwhelmed with emotion and goosebumps as we completed the Pearl Harbor excursion, and I haven't even mentioned the magical Star Princess yet.

I remember laying on the beach chair with my wife watching a movie on the theatre screen; however, this was no normal movie night. You see, this was a ‘Movies Under the Stars’ night and those beach chairs were on the top deck of the ship. The dark sky dotted with the shiniest stars, the ocean water lapping against the ship as we lay wrapped in a blanket that perfectly complements the ocean breeze. This ship was magical. The dinners, the shows, the art, the atmosphere, the music, the performances, and the crew were all impeccable. It is safe to say it left an impression on my wife and I and since then we have been on 6 cruises and travelled to Italy, Greece, Spain, France, Croatia, Montenegro, Seattle, New York, Newfoundland, Halifax, Lebanon, Astoria, San Francisco, Nashville, Las Vegas, Los Angelas, San Diego, Florida, Alabama, Kentucky and many other places.

For us, time stands still in our memories in those moments we experienced on these journeys. From city centers, museums and historical sites to Tuscan Vineyards, Mediterranean beaches and Hawaiin mountains, travelling has colored our life with moments captured and frozen in time. Confucius teaches, ‘wherever you go, go with all your heart’, and I have learned, wherever ever I went – I left a piece of my heart.
