I became a travel agent AFTER I retired from a "real" job. When I retired, it was to enable me to participate in all of the things my grandchildren (and niece and nephew) did. Lo and behold, they are all in school in the daytime - silly me. And I was bored. My husband, bless his heart, discovered the ad for Expedia Cruises and, after talking to Shawn, I decided it might work for me. I could work as hard as I wanted and devote as much time as I had. Now I had worked a bit on-line for an American company but, as they had no inroads to Canada, it was basically just a hobby. I needed more than that for my own sanity!! I have travelled forever. As with most middle class families, we did road trips when we were young - mostly to mid-west cities (Detroit, Cleveland, Green Bay) and primarily to visit relatives. Sound familiar? We also made a point of taking in sporting events whenever we travelled. A bit of back info - my mother was a very tenacious lady and NOTHING would stop us. She made a point of taking us to the poorest and seediest areas of every urban center we visited. It was important to her and my dad that we see and experience how EVERYONE in this world lived (as best she could without flying as that was her only fear). We went to Cleveland during riots where we needed a National Guard escort to get downtown, walked through skid row in Detroit, you name it, and if no one else would do it, we did. As a result, my travelling has taken on a different tone. I love adventure and will try anything at least once. And I want to help anyone else do the same (if they want). Most of my visits have been to the Caribbean and count Roatan and the Osa Penninsula of Costa Rica as my favourite destinations. I love the jungle and the ocean equally. I have taken several cruises and also love the laid back restfulness of a cruise - as long as you add some snorkeling or wildlife to the trip. I try to take as many and as varied excursions as possible and include some walking around the port time as well. I want very much to help others plan their perfect vacation tailored to individual interests. From plotting out a road trip to quick getaways to cruising to all-inclusives, I want each and every client to find exactly what is right for them.
