I’ve been travelling internationally since I was a kid of 17 living in Vancouver, BC. My parents allowed me to use my allowance and $$ earned with part-time jobs on travel to visit relatives the other side of Canada and across the US border. I guess I caught the travel “bug” because I needed to see those “Far Away Places” I heard about in a Bing Crosby song as a kid.

At 21 I bought my first cruise ticket on a trip around the world. Well, the first leg of that trip anyway. Some relatives had talked about the south island of New Zealand where they had a sheep farm. The stories they told me were all about the wonderful people and that fabulous country that was small and so easy to see in its entirety in just a few days. I couldn’t wait to visit New Zealand and sailed from Vancouver (in first class accommodation – no less) aboard the P & O Ocean Liner “Arcadia”. It was an 18 day cruise that took me to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Honolulu, Suva, Fiji and finally docked in Auckland. They were wonderful days; however, first class at that time gave me a cabin with a porthole no bigger than 18 inches in diameter and it didn’t open to provide any fresh air. After 3 months touring New Zealand with money earned from a job at the local post office in Auckland, I headed for Sydney, Australia and spent the next 18 months travelling around Australia.

I met my sweetheart in New Zealand and married her in Australia. I took her home to meet the family with the intention of earning some quick money and travellingl together to see the rest of the world. Two children later, we were going nowhere beyond the immediate neighbourhood except that I landed a job with a major Canadian retailer and that included travel around the world as a buyer. I hit the jackpot!

Now my sweetheart and I travel the world together and our favourite thing to do is cruise. We’ve sailed the South Pacific, Atlantic, Caribbean and Mediterranean in addition to the English Channel.

The journeys are great for the two of us and the planning just as much fun for me. That’s why I chose to spend my time planning fabulous vacations and cruises for others who love it as much as I do.
